Typically, Rheumascan shows focal contrast enhancement at metacarpal (MCP) joints as well as at proximal interphalangeal(PIP) joints of one or both hands. In many cases, signal intensity in wrist joints is present in one or both hands. Contrast enhancement is often already present at early time points after injection and may continue over time depending upon activity. Signal intensities in proximity to the fingernails or at the distal interphalangeal (DIP) joints are rare in RA.
